The
Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust (JWCT) is a charity set up in
tribute to and memory of Jeremy Willson. The charity helps people
and projects that reflect Jeremy’s passions in life: athletics,
geology, adventure and the environment.
The JWCT helps:
- young athletes from the UK
and developing countries realise their ambitions
- young geologists and others
to carry out independent ground-breaking expeditions and research
- young people or groups with
disabilities to participate in sporting and/or adventurous activities
in the UK and overseas
- practical projects to conserve
and improve access to mountain and ocean environments in the
UK and overseas.
The JWCT provides
annual awards and individual grants to the causes mentioned above.
Approximately £15,000 is distributed each year.
The JWCT is run by
Jeremy’s family as trustees.

The
Big 7 challenge

Simon
Ferguson and Tim Grimble, in May 2009, are planning to cycle from
Paris to Nice in aid of the JWCT. The gruelling cycle takes in
over seven of the Tour de France's highest and most famous passes
including the legendary Col du Galibier, the 21 switchbacks of
the Alpe D'Huez and the foreboding Mont Ventoux. The intrepid
pair plan to complete the 700 miles (1,120 km) journey in seven
days. Please support their marathon efforts here.

the evolution of Jurassic dinosaurs in the Southern Gobi desert
in Mongolia has been awarded with £1,000 by the JWCT,
