Rower, Morgan Hellen
Morgan Hellen, a talented young year-old rower from Maidstone,
Kent, is seeking to represent Great Britain at a Junior Rowing World
Championships and in the Olympics. He trains six days a week at
Maidstone Invicta Rowing Club in Kent and has been rowing since he
was eleven. Morgan’s greatest achievements to date are rowing for
the Junior 16 Great Britain team a year early (in the pair) as a 15
year-old; being national champion two years in a row; and being
National Schools Champion in the double scull.
January 2010
A £1,000 cheque was presented to Morgan by JWCT trustee Tom
Willson on 17 January 2010 (pictured left) at the Rowing Club, with
a report published in the
Kent Messenger newspaper. Morgan said that a grant would “mean
that it would enable me to do all of the trials and constant
journeys around the country and Europe without putting my family
under the financial pressure I feel I do at times.”
Morgan is also part of the national champion Junior 16 coxed
four, and has won a medal every year he has entered the British
Indoor Rowing Championships.
